1. About these terms

Welcome to The Particle Post.

These Terms of Service apply when you use our website or purchase a product or subscription from The Particle Post. By placing an order with us, you agree to these Terms together with any other policies referred to on our website.

The Particle Post is an independent science mail club operated in the United Kingdom. Our online store is powered by Shopify.

Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

2. Our products

The Particle Post is a physical mail subscription featuring science writing, illustrations, activities and collectable paper-based items.

Each issue is different, and the exact combination of contents may vary from month to month.

We make every reasonable effort to describe and photograph our products accurately. Colours and appearance may vary slightly depending on your screen, printing processes and the materials used.

We may occasionally make minor changes to the contents, materials or presentation of an issue where reasonably necessary, provided that these changes do not materially reduce the overall nature or value of the product you purchased.

3. Orders

When you place an order, you are offering to purchase the product or subscription shown at checkout.

Your order is accepted when we confirm it. We reserve the right to decline or cancel an order where reasonably necessary, for example because of a payment problem, an obvious pricing error, suspected fraud, or because we are unable to fulfil the order.

If we cancel an order after payment has been taken and you have not received the relevant goods, we will refund the amount due to you.

Please check the information you provide at checkout carefully, particularly your delivery address and contact details.

4. Subscriptions

The Particle Post is a rolling monthly subscription unless otherwise stated at the time of purchase.

When you subscribe, you will be charged for your first eligible issue at checkout. Your subscription will then renew automatically according to the renewal date and billing information shown when you subscribe.

There is no minimum subscription period unless expressly stated at the time of purchase.

You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancelling stops future renewals but does not automatically cancel or refund an order for which payment has already been processed.

Founding Particle subscriptions

Customers who join under our Founding Particle offer receive the Founding Particle subscription price for as long as that subscription remains continuously active.

If a Founding Particle subscription is cancelled and you later choose to rejoin, the subscription price available at the time you rejoin will apply.

5. Prices and payment

The price you pay will be the price displayed to you at checkout when your order is placed.

Where UK shipping is stated as included in the subscription price, no additional UK delivery charge will be added for that subscription.

International prices and delivery availability may vary according to destination. Any applicable price and delivery charge will be shown before you complete your order.

You are responsible for providing accurate and current payment information.

For recurring subscriptions, your selected payment method will be charged automatically according to the billing schedule disclosed when you subscribe.

If we change the price applicable to future subscription renewals, we will provide appropriate notice where required and will not alter any protected Founding Particle rate while the eligibility conditions for that rate continue to be met.

6. Delivery

We aim to dispatch Particle Post issues according to the schedule stated on our website or product page.

Delivery dates and transit times are estimates unless we expressly agree otherwise.

Occasionally, delivery may be affected by postal delays, customs processes or other circumstances outside our reasonable control. If there is a problem with your delivery, please contact us at hello@theparticlepostclub.com and we will help resolve it.

7. Returns, refunds and cancellation rights

Your rights relating to returns, damaged or incorrect orders, refunds and statutory cancellation are explained in our Returns and Refunds Policy.

Cancelling an individual order or exercising a statutory right to cancel is separate from cancelling your ongoing subscription.

Nothing in these Terms or our other policies limits the rights you have under applicable consumer law.

8. Intellectual property

The content and materials created for The Particle Post, including our writing, illustrations, graphics, photographs, designs, branding and other original materials, are owned by or licensed to The Particle Post and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

Our materials are provided for your personal, non-commercial use.

You may not reproduce, distribute, sell, republish or use our materials commercially without our prior written permission, except where permitted by law.

The Particle Post name, logo and associated branding may not be used in a way that suggests affiliation with or endorsement by The Particle Post without permission.

9. Website and third-party services

Our online store is powered by Shopify, and we may use other third-party services to provide features such as payments and subscription management.

Your use of certain third-party services may also be subject to their own terms and privacy policies.

Although we take reasonable care to keep our website accurate and available, we cannot guarantee that it will always be uninterrupted or free from errors.

We may correct genuine errors or inaccuracies in product descriptions, availability or pricing. If an error materially affects an order you have already placed, we will contact you and deal with the order fairly, including providing a refund where appropriate.

10. Privacy

We handle personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Information may also be processed by Shopify and other service providers that help us operate our store, process payments, manage subscriptions and fulfil orders.

11. Our responsibility to you

We are responsible for providing our products and services with reasonable care and in accordance with applicable UK consumer law.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful for us to do so, including your statutory rights relating to goods that are faulty, not as described or otherwise fail to meet applicable legal requirements.

We are not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when the contract was made or for losses arising from circumstances for which we are not legally responsible.

12. Acceptable use

You must not use our website unlawfully, attempt to interfere with its operation or security, introduce malicious software, misuse another person's information, or use our website or materials in a way that infringes our or another person's rights.

We may restrict access to our website or customer accounts where reasonably necessary to protect the website, our customers or our business from misuse or unlawful activity.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes to our services, business practices or legal requirements.

The current version will always be available on our website.

Changes will not unfairly remove rights relating to an order you have already placed. Where a material change affects an ongoing subscription and notice is required, we will provide appropriate notice before that change takes effect.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in the United Kingdom.

If you are a consumer, nothing in these Terms prevents you from relying on any mandatory rights or protections available to you under the law applicable where you live.

Nothing in these Terms restricts your right to bring a dispute before a court that has jurisdiction under applicable law.
